It's always been on my heart
Snoop Dogg · Rapper, media personality
Snoop Dogg — born Calvin Broadus — built his career on gangsta rap, but in 2018 released his first gospel album, "Bible of Love," featuring gospel names like Fred Hammond, the Clark Sisters, and Marvin Sapp, and described himself as a born-again Christian. "It's always been on my heart. I just never got around to it because I always be doing gangsta business and doing this and doing that," he said. Responding to critics skeptical of the shift, he pushed back: "The devil is a liar. I thought church was supposed to welcome sinners. If you find someone trying to find their way back home, the natural thing would be to accept him with open arms." He has described the change simply: "When I got to this, I felt a breath of fresh air like there was no stress, no pressure."
