When You Feel Unworthy of God's Love
October 12, 2026
Have you ever wondered whether God could truly love someone like you?
Perhaps you remember mistakes from your past. Maybe you struggle with the same weaknesses again and again, or you look at other people and feel that their faith is stronger than yours.
You may believe in God's love for others but quietly question whether you deserve that same love.
If you have ever felt this way, remember something important: God's love is not a reward you earn by being perfect.
The message of the Gospel is not that we must become perfect before we can come to God. It is that God invites us to come to Him, receive His grace, and allow His love to transform our lives.
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
— Romans 5:8 (NIV)
This verse reminds us that God's love was demonstrated through Jesus Christ even when humanity was still living in sin. His grace is not an invitation to ignore our mistakes; it is an invitation to turn toward Him and experience the forgiveness and new life He offers.
You do not have to hide your struggles from God. He already knows your heart. You can approach Him honestly, confess your sins, ask for forgiveness, and seek His help to change.
Perhaps you have disappointed yourself. Perhaps someone has made you feel that you are not good enough. But other people's opinions and your past failures do not determine the depth of God's love.
Remember, too, that spiritual growth takes time. You may not overcome every weakness in a single day, but you can continue seeking God, learning from Scripture, and choosing to follow Jesus.
When feelings of unworthiness return, come back to the truth of the Gospel: salvation is a gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ, not something we earn through our own achievements.
You are invited to come to Him—not because you have everything right, but because His grace offers hope for those who need Him.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, sometimes I struggle to believe that Your love is truly for me. I remember my mistakes and focus on my weaknesses. Please help me understand the depth of Your grace through Jesus Christ. Forgive me where I have done wrong, give me strength to grow, and teach me to live in the freedom of Your forgiveness. Help me stop measuring my worth by my failures and begin each day with a heart that seeks You. Thank You for loving me and inviting me into a new life with You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Today's Thought
You do not have to earn God's love by becoming perfect. Come to Him through Jesus, receive His grace, and let His love change the way you live.
